IMAGINE HAPPINESS CAN BE LEARD!
Appreciating the wonder and beauty of the world and its people. The word “appreciation” means really seeing something for what it is- an awareness of how special, how lucky, how unique, how blessed, how big, wonderful or awesome something is.
Being committed to their own learning, persevering and showing self- discipline and responsibility. Commitment means doing what needs to be done regardless of your talents or your mood. Even if you are sad, mad, tired or something better comes along you still need to follow through on a commitment. All activities- academic and social – should be followed through with a positive attitude and determination.
Confidence means feeling sure of yourself and your abilities — not in an arrogant way, but in a realistic, secure way. Confidence isn't about feeling superior to others. It's a quiet inner knowledge that you're capable.
Cooperation is the ability to balance one's own needswith someone else's. We often think of cooperation as children doing what adults want. That is compliance. True cooperation means a joint effort—a give and take that is mutually satisfying.
Creativity is the ability to think up and design new inventions, produce works of art, solve problems in new ways, or develop an idea based on an original, novel, or unconventional approach.
Being curious about the nature of learning, about the world, its people and cultures. Curiosity is having a strong desire to learn or know something. Folks who are curious often don't "need" the information they inquire about. They seek answers to their questions for the sake of gaining knowledge.
Empathy is being able to understand how someone else is feeling. Empathy is being able to know how someone else is feeling, even when you aren't in the same situation. Sometimes, in more simple words, we call empathy being able to "put yourself in someone's shoes" and see things from their view.
Enjoying learning and willingly putting the effort into the process. “How do you like friends to play? Do you like it when they add things to the game, are excited to play, and are eager to help out?”
Thinking and acting independently, making your own judgments based on reasoned argument, and being able to defend your judgments. The word independence means "not dependent", or not having to depend on anyone or anything else. It also means being strong and able to survive alone.
Integrity is the ability to act in ways that are consistent with the values, beliefs, and moral principles we claim to hold. It's about doing the right thing, even when no one is watching; and about courage, honesty, and respect in one's daily interactions. Being honest and demonstrating a considered sense of fairness.
Optimism and pessimism are mindsets — ways of thinking and seeing things. Optimists see the positive side of things. They expect things to turn out well. They believe they have the skill and ability to make good things happen.
Patience is the ability to tolerate a delay without becoming angry or upset. Being patient means accepting the fact that a process will take a little longer than you might have thought.
Respecting yourself, others and the world around. Respect means that you accept somebody for who they are, even when they're different from you or you don't agree with them. Respect in your relationships builds feelings of trust, safety, and wellbeing.
Being sensitive about differences and diversity in the world and being responsive to the needs of others. Tolerance is about accepting people for who they are — not about accepting bad behavior. Tolerance also means treating others the way you would like to be treated.
